HELP NEEDED! The Itasca County board recently passed a resolution to initiate a crowdsourcing broadband speed test across the County. We want to help the County get good data because this data will help improve broadband access in our area. All you need to do is click the link, let the test run, and that's it! Do this at home, at the cabin, and repeat it at different times of the day if you are able. If you are in a location with no broadband service, fill in the address and the map will reflect no service. Click on the link: https://expressoptimizer.net/public/ St. Louis County recently completed this project and it has resulted in some valuable data. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and this will hopefully lead to better broadband in the near future. Thank you for your time and cooperation! ALSO, PLEASE SHARE! THANKS!

Governor Tim Walz announced yesterday that Minnesota schools will continue distance learning through the remainder of the school year. This step was taken as part of a plan to slow the spread of COVID-19 and limit the impact on our healthcare system. We know this has been tough and we will continue to partner with families to support them and their children. Food drops and childcare for workers connected to the COVID response will continue through the rest of the school year. We also want to hear how we are doing. If you are a healthcare or emergency worker and will need childcare from the school during the upcoming school closure, please visit the following link: http://www.tinyurl.com/IASCcare School district employees will review the childcare needs and communicate the details of the arrangements as soon as we are able. Cold and virus season is in full swing in our communities. Our number of confirmed influenza (flu) and strep throat cases is on the rise throughout our district. We ask that you please keep your child home if they are sick. Influenza (flu) comes on suddenly. Many people with the flu feel tired and have high fever, headache, dry cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, and sore muscles. Antiviral medications can make the flu milder, so see your doctor if you think your child may have it. Please let the school know if your child is diagnosed with doctor confirmed flu, and which type it is if you know. Students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school. If you have any questions, or to report illnesses to the school, please call (218) 885-1280 x 51154.

“Restorative Practices” is a framework for a broad range of restorative approaches, like circles, that proactively build a school community based on cooperation, mutual understanding, trust and respect. This practice also approaches challenging situations and conflicts by creating opportunities for those who have been harmed to convey the impact of the harm to those responsible, and for those responsible to acknowledge the impact and take accountability to make things right.

Dear Nashwauk-Keewatin families and community, This statement is in response to a student report of concern for the safety of our schools. Threats were first overheard on a school bus, and then posted on social media. We are proud that our students did a good job of reporting concerns about safety to our administration. Administration immediately reached out to local law enforcement who responded quickly to our concerns. There are no credible or authentic threats to the safety of our schools. Disciplinary action has been taken where it is justified. Again, thank you for your alertness. If appropriate, please reinforce with your children the importance of "when you see something, say something." With your support, we continue to act for the safety of all our students and staff. We are NK strong!
