Dear Parents/Guardians of N-K Students,
After consulting with other area superintendents and Itasca County Public Health earlier today, it has been determined that Nashwauk-Keewatin will transition to N-K Phase 2 beginning Monday, September 28. This decision was made based on the 14-day COVID rate per 10,000 residents
rising to 15.26 as of Saturday, 9/19. N-K Phase 2 means Preschool-6th grades will remain
in-person learning with the current schedule and plan. 7-12th grade students will change to hybrid
All students are assigned to an Orange Day or Blue Day group. If you recall, we attended school the first week on the Orange Day/Blue Day schedule so you should be familiar with your child’s group. If you do not remember, please check the Parent Portal or call the office at 218-885-1280.
Here is the schedule for 7-12 grades for the upcoming couple weeks:
Friday, 9/25: All students in grades 7-12 will have the day off.
***Please do not send your 7-12th grade student(s) to school.
***7-12th grades Family Flex students will also have the day off school.
***High school teachers will be preparing and planning for hybrid learning.
Monday, 9/28 & Tuesday, 9/29: ORANGE DAY students in grades 7-12 attend school.
Wednesday, 9/30: ALL 7-12 students distance learn from home.
Thursday, 10/1 & Friday, 10/2: BLUE DAY students in grades 7-12 attend school.
Monday, 10/5 & Tuesday, 10/6: ORANGE DAY students in grades 7-12 attend school.
Wednesday, 10/7: ALL 7-12 students distance learn from home.
Thursday, 10/8 & Friday, 10/9: BLUE DAY students in grades 7-12 attend school.
Since last March, we have been faced with unprecedented, challenging times. Providing your children with the best education possible is the highest priority for Nashwauk-Keewatin School District. However, we MUST have the safety and health of students, families, staff, and the community at the center of everything we do during the 2020-21 school year.
In general, all of us continue to be asked to do things we have never done before. We sincerely thank you for your support, patience, and understanding as we navigate the 2020-21 school year together.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
